Moving to A New Apartment?
If so, it’s time you begin considering what you’ll need to buy before moving to a new apartment.
At Western Moving, we’ve helped hundreds of families, businesses, and individuals move over the years. It’s safe to say we know a thing or two about moving essentials. With that in mind, in this post, we’ve decided to highlight six essential items you’ll need to buy when moving into a new apartment.
Let’s take a look!
1. Packing Material
First and foremost, before moving to a new apartment, it’s vital that you invest in the right packing materials to protect your belongings. This includes cartons, TV boxes, china barrels, mattress bags, packing tape, packing paper, and more.
The last thing you want is to arrive at your new apartment only to realize that your possessions have been damaged because you didn’t take the time to pack them properly.
2. Toiletries
When moving to a new apartment, the first night can be stressful. Your primary focus should be unpacking and setting up your new apartment and making it your new home. However, many people forget to pack essential toiletries like toilet paper, a toothbrush, soap, and toothpaste, so they’re left scrambling to find a store in an unfamiliar city when they should really be unpacking.
That’s why it’s important to make sure you pack a small bag with all the toiletries you need – or at least, enough to last until you have unpacked and are ready to begin exploring your new city.
3. Cleaning Supplies
Unfortunately, sometimes previous owners do not do a good job cleaning up after themselves. It’s always a good idea to have a few essential cleaning supplies (Lysol, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, Windex, etc.) with you so you can give the place a quick wipedown before bringing in your belongings.
4. Essential Services
When moving to a new apartment, one of the first things you’ll want to do is make sure you have all of your essential services set up ahead of time. This includes:
- Internet
- Gas
- Water
- Electricity
- Any previous subscriptions you had at your old home.
5. Cutlery and Dishes
Unpacking certainly works up an appetite and you can’t order from Skip the Dishes forever! Instead of spending your money on new cutlery, plates, pans, pots, and other kitchen supplies, do yourself a favour and pack them ahead of time.
6. Shower Curtains
One of the most commonly forgotten items when moving to a new apartment is shower curtains. Not all apartments will have this item included, and even if they do, it’s a good idea to swap them out.
